Job - Employee using employer and employer using employee

Work - Must consistently show up and deliver based on specific expectation

Career - Your Identity

  • Low Energy
  • Inaccessible anytime before or after 9-5, regardless of deadlines on projects
  • The work day is determined, not by productivity and hitting targets, but by the hours

Entrepreneurs -

Protect yourself from people who step into an opportunity to build a career in a profession that most people work hard for. Don’t let them treat this like a job.
It must come from the employee. If they truly share your core values, believe in your mission, your vision and feel you’re the right leader for them and if you’re loyal and committed to growing them professionally and personally - they will show up for you and help you build your business.

Employees: 9-5 is the bare minimum, of course you can stick to that schedule and even less hours, BUT first you have to become the best and build the necessary experience, reputation and track record. Until then - you must out work everyone. That’s not going to happen if you check in and check out - you’re always ON. Because the best opportunity for growth will come in the most inconvenient times, probably outside of the 9-5.

Employers :

Surround yourself with the right ones. Hire a character. Let them know upfront of the sacrifice they need to make if they want to grow. Lead with your values. If your intention is to use your people, not to grow them - You’re making this career opportunity just a temporary job for them - it’s not their fault.
