Tony Arata is a singer-songwriter originally from Savannah, Georgia. Songs he wrote have been recorded by other recording artists including Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless, Emmylou Harris, Don Williams, Randy Travis and Bonnie Raitt. However, he's most known as being the writer of "The Dance," the hit song of musical artist Garth Brooks.

This interview was originally broadcast on the radio. It was in 2011, Tony Arata and other writers had performed at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, Georgia. Days later, he made the time to check in by telephone. The next year Arata was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. We hope you enjoy this interview with one of the greatest songwriters in American music!
