Joey Greany, 34, has just completed his first season in the Tampa Bay Rays organization as the Assistant Major League Strength & Conditioning Coach and 10th season in professional baseball, after spending the previous nine seasons with the Kansas City Royals as their Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coach. He is a five-time recipient of the Professional Baseball Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society Minor League Baseball Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year Award (2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016). Joey played baseball at Alfred State College in New York and Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee while earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. He received his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science at California University of Pennsylvania and was inducted into the Alfred State College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011. Joey is a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC), as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). In addition to these certifications, he is a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), a Certified Speed Specialist (CSS) through the National Association of Speed and Explosion (NASE), a Certified Speed and Agility Coach (CSAC) through Athletes Acceleration, and a Certified Speed, Agility, and Quickness Specialist through the National Exercise & Sport Training Association (NESTA).
