KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Andy believes that as human beings, most of us are far more capable than we believe we are.
  • It’s always best to start with a sure bet and once you’ve conquered that hurdle, look at something bigger to move onto.
  • The challenge with property is that there are so many different strategies, especially since the financial crash of 07/08. But innovation is born from hardship, and in the wake of the financial woes, lease options, HMOs, SAs and the like began to flourish. People will always find the opportunities, no matter how bleak the landscape.
  • It’s always best to work out up front what your vision for the future is. By first determining our goals, we can best work out how to reach them, but more importantly, to recognise when we are already there.
  • Planning your goals is like using a sat-nav - You need to be as accurate as possible in deciding where it is you want to go. Once you’ve chosen your destination, the sat nav chooses the best route, and if you deviate, it recalculates your path.
  • Andy’s formula for success is MA (Massive Action) x RS (The Right Stuff) x C (Consistency) = R (Results).
  • If you stagnate, then you will eventually regress in terms of development. We must always search for ways to improve ourselves or we risk stagnation. Living things are either growing or dying. We cannot stand still.
  • The coaching, speaking and the property training industries are the best personal development industries out there. They teach those who are willing to learn how to envision their goals, and how best to facilitate their reaching that goal. The problem with many people is that they don’t stop and think about what their goal is or make it real enough.
  • Working remotely and harnessing the power of technology to build your property business is completely possible, but property will always be a people business. There’s no substitute for a functioning network.
  • Utilising LinkedIn correctly and effectively has proved to be a huge asset for Andy, who has quickly built a valuable network of contacts, which he uses regularly to leverage his business and grow his income.
