Photo Radar is coming back...albeit in a slightly different form. The province is announcing it is investing in new tech to make some of the most dangerous intersections safer. The NDP says it will upgrade existing red-light cameras to ID and ticket vehicles who travel through lights too fast.
In a press release, the government says speed is a top factor in intersection crashes with more than 10-thousand drivers travelling at least 30 kilometres over the speed limit every year.
The province also says they are working to reduce the number of collisions which will take the financial burden off of ICBC - which has announced it is looking at losses of more than one billion dollars this fiscal year.
Attorney General David Eby discussed the issue of red light cameras with Mike Smyth on January 30th.
