One of Canada’s most popular coffee retailers has been facing backlash after workers at nearly a dozen Tim Hortons outlets across Ontario — including in Cobourg and Whitby — spoke out about store owners cutting employee perks like paid breaks and benefits in response to January's minimum wage increase to $14 an hour.

JJ Bean has locations in both Ontario and BC, and instead of paying their Ontario employees one rate and their BC employees another, the company has decided to increase prices by one to three per cent in order to pay both sets of employees the same.
