Today I am talking with Sally Clark, the author of The Way of the Warrior Mama.

Sally is a mother, a writer, a director, and an artist. She was raised in cowgirl country in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, but found her passion for helping women and girls reclaim their power when she was living far away from the Rocky Mountains — she found her creative incubators to be in Paris, France and New York City, where she began working on documentary films that investigated the abuses of cult leaders, the effects of pollution on the environment and human sexuality, and the Ecstasy drug problem among teenagers.

After graduating from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, Sally worked for Naomi Wolf on her book Misconceptions: Truth, Lies, and the Unexpected on the Journey to Motherhood; for Dalma Heyn on her book Drama Kings: The Men Who Drive Strong Women Crazy; and worked with Lili Fournier, producer of the Women of Wisdom and Power series about the Mount Holyoke teen girls’ leadership program, Take the Lead.

In 2000, she launched Cowgirl Productions and delved into the lives of the brave, savvy, and unfettered women of rodeo. Sally is a graduate of Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts and Alison Armstrong’s Understanding Men and Women workshops.

Sally worked as a teacher and advisory board member for the nonprofit Act Now, which teaches film and leadership skills to preteen girls. A survivor of sexual trauma, Sally produced an artist fundraiser for the nation’s largest victims’ assistance organization, Safe Horizon, where she belly danced as part of a self-imposed dare.

In addition to coaching and co-leading women’s circles, Sally does the daily dance of marriage with the light and love of her life, raises little daughter-warrior-goddesses-in-training, and finds time to stop and smell the flowers.

Today we will be talking about Sally’s new book, “The Way of the Warrior Mama,” that she recently birthed into the world. We’ll dig into her experiences of what it took to write this book and what this book means in our culture today, as we are living during interesting times.

As a special thank you, Sally is offering her book for FREE for one day over on Amazon. She is calling it “Warrior Wednesday”: on Wednesday November 29 (post USA Thanksgiving) starting 12am Pacific Standard Time, you can download her book for free for 24 hours.
