Are you fan of e-cigarettes? This is Judy Gaman and this is your Stay Young Medical Minute. E-cigarettes are being passed off as a healthy option for smoking, but they come with real health risks. So you decided to stop smoking regular cigarettes or you think it might be cool to start “vaping.” Well, not so fast. The New England Journal of Medicine has reported that these e-cigarettes may contain high levels of a chemical like formaldehyde. As you know, formaldehyde causes cancer. Currently, e-cigarrettes are not regulated and the FDA is trying to decide the best way to monitor the health risks. My advice to you – don’t even think about it. First of all, you don’t look cool. Secondly, it’s not worth the risk. If you need something to do with your mouth – try keeping healthy snacks on hand– but don’t try e-cigarettes or any type of cigarette for that matter. We want you to live longer and healthier. That’s why you should visit Stay Young America.com where you can find more Stay Young Medical Minutes and full episodes of the Staying Young Show.
