Journalist and writer Susan Orlean is heading to New Zealand. Orlean is best known for bestseller ‘The Orchid Thief’, which was adapted into the Oscar-nominated film Adaption that starred Meryl Streep and Nicholas Cage. She's now back with a book in her usual unusual style. The Library Book discusses a 1986 fire in the Los Angeles Central Library that burned for seven hours destroying more than a million books. The book dives into more than just the fire, and has been described by some as a love story around the importance of our beloved libraries. Orlean will be here next month for Auckland Writers Festival. She joined Francesca Rudkin to discuss her new work, the love of libraries, and what it's like being played by Meryl Streep.
