On this episode of Reflections Doug Beecroft talks with Professor Suzanne Crowe. Suzanne is an Associate Director of Clinical Research at Burnet, an NHMRC Principal Research Fellow, Principal Specialist in Infectious Diseases at The Alfred hospital and Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Monash University, Melbourne. Currently an adviser and consultant to the World Health Organization Global Program on AIDS, Suzanne has served as Deputy Chair of the Board of the Australian India Council (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade), President of the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine and as a member of the Prime Minister's Science Engineering and Innovation Council Asia Working Group. With over 200 peer-reviewed publications, her main research interests are the role of monocyte subsets and macrophages in HIV pathogenesis as well as translational research and technology transfer for low cost CD4 and viral load tests to monitor HIV infection in developing countries. She also coordinates HIV clinical training sessions for doctors in resource limited countries and strengthens the capacity of laboratories in the region.
