This event was hosted by the Aquinas Society of Cincinnati and cosponsored by the Thomistic Institute on October 23rd, 2018. It includes performances by Fr. William Goldin, a trained opera singer and theologian, of pieces by John Cage ("Aria" with "Fontana Mix") and Tchaikovsky. About the event: This revolution had a soundtrack. The 1960s saw a tremendous change in music, from the highest forms of opera to the popular songs on the radio. What we hear and sing in church and on our radios has been marked by that revolutionary decade. Fr. Goldin’s presentation will both explain and illustrate how the standards of musical beauty and excellence have changed.
