This week I am joined by Dr.Susan Kellogg-Spadt, the Director of Female Sexual Medicine at The Center for Pelvic Medicine in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Dr. Kellogg is a vulvovaginal and pelvic pain specialist, researcher, educator and a certified sexuality counselor and therapist. She has been featured in The New York Times and on the Today Show, 20/20, CNN, and the Discovery Channel. She also serves on the executive board of the national vulvodynia association. In this episode we discuss Dr. Kellogg's mission to educate other practitioners on diagnosing and treating pelvic pain. Dr. Kellogg also gives insight to how women can find the language and the courage to communicate the way that they feel to their practitioner and their partner, in addition to communication with themselves. As Dr. Kellogg is not only an OBGYN, but a sex therapist as well, we delve into the mind-body connection and how treating pelvic pain takes a multi-faceted approach.Dr. Kellogg's Recommended Resources:1) AASCT (American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors & Therapists)2)www.Psychologytoday.com3) IPPS (International Pelvic Pain Society)4) ISSWSH (The International Society for the the Study of Women's Sexual Health)5) NVA (National Vulvodynia Association)6) ICA (Interstitial Cystitis Association)Contact Dr. Kellogg:www.centerforpelvicmedicine.com________Thank you Materna Medical for supporting this weeks episode!
