There are moments in rock history that have a huge impact on society. For those of us of a certain age, we can remember seeing Michael Jackson do The Moonwalk for the first time on television. It was the ultimate water cooler or playground conversation. "Did you see?", "How did he do that?" and so forth. But the album from which the walk came from broke records (no pun intended) and became a monster album, thrilling millions upon millions, and not a stream in sight...we went out to the store and bought the cassette or album.
Then there are moments that become the subject of songs. One such even happened to Frank Zappa in Switzerland. It would up the topic of a song, and a chord structure that have thrilled guitarist ever since. No one was hurt, but it was an event. Zappa, however, had a miserable year that year and tune in for the weird conclusion of that particular date.
Then there are moments we would rather forget, such as the passing of a rock icon. A man who introduced the world to world music, a humanitarian, and the person who invented the all star benefit concert. But he was much more than that. He made his guitar weep and made the world fall in love. Of course, we're talking about George Harrison of The Beatles.
All of that, plus charts and our Memphis to Merseyside moment all on The Way-Back Music Podcast, Episode 33!
