Friction is one of the number one success killers. Anyone that has achieved great things will tell you, it’s about pragmatism and consistency. If you start going to gym but it’s way out on the other side of town, eventually that distance becomes an impediment to going - that’s friction. Today I’m going to tell you ways to remove friction from good habits and add it to bad in order to jumpstart your success.

Firstly, you need to assess what is going to get you what you want on a daily basis. Look at those necessary activities and figure out how to make them easier. Set up a schedule, clear out and organize your bookmarks or simply set alarms and reminders.

Life admin is another way we experience friction. Everyone needs to get groceries and clean, but have you thought about outsourcing it? Hiring a housekeeper or getting your groceries delivered doesn’t make you lazy, it frees your time up to take advantage of opportunities.

If you are looking to build new habits, the temptation is to go all in right off the bat. I’m telling you it takes small steps to build sustainability and create manageable, daily habits. On top of that, add friction to the bad habits in your life. Put the junk food in a hard to reach place, lock up the cigarettes, just make it that much harder to carry out the bad habits over the good.

Finally, look at implementing automation. Put the work in to create simple systems and SOPs that make it easier to delegate to the rest of your team. Follow these steps, start small and you will be growing into success in no time.
