TCBOO-Podcast-logoTwo movies titled Wizard(s) enter, only one will leave (with that title) as Herman “OmegaPrime” Davis and Robert Rau watch a traumatizing Ralph Bakshi cartoon — and an entry in Fantastic Fest about kids selling drugs — to determine which movie should be called Wizard(s).

Herman and Rob attended the 8-day movie festival Fantastic Fest and were able to find three movie titles that match a previous film, somewhat justifying this vacation. The first is a 2017 African tale about two kids who didn’t realize they had the best “product” around, so they get ambitious and go to a better “distributor.” Since the items in question are nicknamed “wizard,” this bodes well towards keeping the title.

The problem they have is facing the mind of Ralph Bakshi. This 1977 cartoon that millions of kids saw well before they were ready is about a magical land not named Middle Earth. Here in this place that is definitely not Middle Earth are two wizards who certainly aren’t Saruman and Gandalf, battling for the forces of good and evil. Plus, there’s tons of other imagery that will cause kids to grow up a little too soon. Since the focus isn’t always on the two wizards, it does make it tough to name the whole movie after them.

But will the love for inappropriate cinema win out over a relatively entertaining foreign movie? Listen if you dare.
