As we prepare to celebrate the holidays with family and friends, I find that my guests are always delighted when we gather around a thoughtfully decorated table setting. It can be formal or casual, extravagant or tailored, depending on your personal style.
Start with what you already have (furnishings, dishes, glassware, etc.) and build around it. Perhaps you are having guests stay for a few days and you would like a simply decorated kitchen table, where more informal meals will be shared.
Or maybe your children are now old enough to appreciate a lovely family meal and dining with “the good china.” If your plans include an early evening event and you want to invite people back for a light buffet, the food itself can be part of the tablescape. Or, you may have beautiful china and crystal that you would love to use but are hesitant about how to make it look its best. In this episode we talk about planning tables for various holiday functions. You can also see photos of the tables we discuss on my website, http://www.kimcarrollinteriors.com. Go to my blog for 6 December, 2021 and find inspiration for your own tables!
