In this fifty-seventh (57th) edition of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, it's the Harris and Farris show as host Will Kollmeyer welcomes Dr. Ray Harris and Kent Farris to the podcast. Harris joins Kollmeyer in the first half of the podcast to talk about his 2019 Humanities Teacher of the Year award from Northeast Mississippi Community College and the Mississippi Humanities Council. In addition to the award, Harris gives a brief overview of his Humanities Teacher of the Year lecture that will be held in the Hines Hall Auditorium on Tuesday, January 15 at 6 p.m. where he will talk about the influences that Louis Bernstein had on him and also perform some of Bernstein's anniversaries for solo piano. In the nightcap of the podcast, Kollmeyer talks with athletic director about all the athletic events that is happening on campus with our various sports including giving praise to the men's basketball team for its win over Itawamba Community College in Fulton and the women's basketball team for their upset over highly-ranked Shelton State (Ala.) right before the holiday break. Farris also gives listeners insight into the upcoming softball and baseball seasons, who cross the chalk for the first time on February 1 and February 12, respectively and even talks about the Northeast golf program. In anticipation of National Signing Day, Farris also talks about the recruiting class for the Northeast football team, how social media has changed recruiting and also goes into depth about former Tiger and Lady Tiger athletes, who have gone on to have successful careers at four-year colleges and universities and in the professional leagues. Kollmeyer wraps up the podcast with a new addition to the publication -- an extended version of what is coming up on campus that details events happening on and around the Northeast campus in a daily breakdown. It contains one of the most comprehensive lists of events and happenings on campus -- so if you have an event or happening on campus and want it mentioned on the podcast, please reach out. If you haven't subscribed to the podcast, now would be a good time to subscribe to stay up-to-date on all the happenings on the Northeast campuses and hear in-depth interviews with guests each week.
