In this sixty-eighth (68th) edition of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes Northeast business, economics and statistics instructor John Yarber to the podcast to talk about the transformation that technology...especially the iPad has had in his classroom. Yarber, who has been at the cutting-edge of technology since coming to Northeast 23 years ago, has seen a dramatic increase in the success and understanding of his students since the addition of technology in the classroom. Yarber talks about being one of the first three instructors to embrace teaching online and has recently flipped his classroom to help students better understand the world of business, marco- and micro-economics as well as statistics. Yarber gives a rundown through the history of technology in the classroom from no electronics, to laptops, to phones and finally to iPads that revolutionized the learning environment for his subjects. In the second half of the podcast, Northeast career technical counselor Carrie Cobb stops by the podcast to talk about the upcoming Northeast Job Fair on Tuesday, April 23. With over 60 employers already signed up for the event, the Northeast Job Fair is destined to be one of the biggest in school history. Not only is the job fair open to students but it is open to NEMCC alumni as well along with members of the community. Cobb talks about some of the employers that will be coming to this year's job fair such as leaders in business, healthcare and education..all wanting access to the talented students that Northeast is producing. Kollmeyer wraps up this week's podcast with one of the most comprehensive lists of events and happenings on the Northeast campus for the upcoming week, so if you have an event or happening on campus and want to be part of the Tiger Talk podcast, reach out to us.
