The show starts its first major departure from the book as we see Shadow go from non-reactive block of stone (book) to guy who freaks out way too fast, way too soon. Musings on the intricacies of goddess worship via lesbian sex, awkward holidays with drunk uncles, and long, boring, high stakes checkers matches round out the rest of the episode.
