“Festival Quinto Sol is a celebration in Xela, Guatemala to interpret, express and apply the fifth cycle of the Mayan cosmovision through art!”

These ten principles and the core ideas of Burning Man and a possible way of living are in many ways aligned with …Quinto Sol, the fifth cycle of the Mayan calendar. They are very much a balance of masculine and feminine. They’re a balance of human and nature. They’re a balance of how we interact with money.

Caleb Olson, co-director Festival Quinto Sol

In this special edition of the Travelogue Media podcast, my guests are Caleb Olson, Kiri Glinz, and Jeffrey Salazar. They shared their passion for art and creativity as they were busily preparing for the third edition of Festival Quinto Sol which starts tomorrow, Thursday March 28th and runs through Sunday March 31st. The festival will be held in Parque Central in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. See you there!

This fifth cycle is 5,200 years. We started this cycle in 2012 when everyone thought the earth was going to die. This actually was the beginning of this new, awesome cycle. We believe as Festival Quinto Sol that through art we can help this change.

Kiri Glinz, co-director Festival Quinto Sol
