In this episode, Chris Day discusses the future of hi-tech and cultivation science with AI, Big Data, and your mobile phone. Assaf Gavish, Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer of MyCrops fuses Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and hi resolution imagery to get ahead of disease and infestation. While the science isn’t limited to cannabis, the MyCrops app dubbed HiGrade even allows home growers and consumers to use their data warehouse of hundreds of thousands of images to cultivate better and predict THC percentages.

MyCrops provides plant vision diagnostics to greenhouse operators with on-site imaging systems and machine vision algorithms. You can call it "Telemedicine for plants". The Digital Agronomist platform is a three-part system: cameras installed in the greenhouse, a SaaS dashboard, and a mobile app. Greenhouse operators receive alerts on early symptoms of health issues, and harvest optimization with pilot programs around the world.

Assaf Gavish, Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer

Assaf Gavish is a biology researcher with over 9 years of expertise in computer vision for agriculture. The plant disease researched was the infection of Botrytis cinerea, one of cannabis’s major pathogens. In collaboration with MIT researchers, he designed and utilized a novel micro-fluidics method for plant visualization and fortified his expert status in advanced light microscopy and computer vision algorithm development. In 2017, Gavish partnered with Asaf Levy to work on a machine vision based diagnostics startup MyCrops, aiming to serve cannabis cultivators.
