Do adult citizens of a free society have an inalienable right to voluntarily ingest any substance they want? Do they have the right to possess and/or sell such substances? Or should the government be granted the power to coercively restrain adult individuals from doing so? Ayn Rand showed us that the moral is the practical--and, conversely, the immoral is the impractical. If we end the war on drugs, will this disenfranchise violent drug gangs in our major cities?
