Lynn Damon, a photographer in Glastonbury, CT took over 200 photographs of special needs adults who work at MARC, Inc., in Manchester, CT. These photographs are part of a permanent display focused on sharing the beauty and happiness of these productive members of our community. Lynn volunteered her time and talent in memory of her sister Jane (read Lynn’s remembrance)who worked at MARC, Inc. and passed away in October of 2014.

What is captured in Lynn’s work is the joy the subjects have in simply being acknowledged. As part of this project Lynn intends to share these photographs in exhibits around the state.

MARC, Inc. was started in the 1950’s by families in the area who were looking to help their special needs children become productive members of our communities. MARC now does envelope stuffing, shredding as well as finding jobs for individuals in local businesses like Bob’s Furniture and Stop & Shop.

As part of our discussion Lynn shares the inspirational stories of how the pictures were taken over many months, the challenges she faced and ultimately what she learned about herself as a result of sharing her talent with the community.

Lynn can be reached through her website at lynndamon.com or by e-mail lynndamon@gmail.com.
