DJ Romain & Danny Krivit "Phillys Groove" (Original Mix - Redefined) Underground Collective Promo Guest DJ: DJ Romain (NYC) When Romain was 8 years old he found himself digging thru his mothers Collection of 45s that consisted of such artists as Diana Ross, The Supremes The moments, James Brown, The 5th Dimension & mostly late 60s & early 70s records. By the time he was 13, Romain was buying his own 45s with the money his mother gave him. In high school Romain started going to a lot of out door parties to listen to the DJs play. Romain knew from that moment on he wanted to play music as well as creating it. Romain then started going to clubs like Paradise Garage & Club Zanzibar where he was influenced by the sounds of Larry Levan & Tony Humphries. He then started playing at local clubs and private parties. Romain got his big break opening up for DJ Smash at New Yorks famous after hours underground club called Save The Robots and in six months became the resident DJ. After a few years there, he got hired by other NY clubs as resident DJ such as Palladium, Limelight Tunnel, Club Exit, Centro Fly, Sound Factor Bar, and played many times as guest DJ along side DJs Francois K. Joe Clausell & Danny Krivit at Body & Soul from 97 to 2000. In the late 90s he started getting noticed more and started to get dj bookings around the world. Romain decided to start producing his own records and releasing them. His first release was on Strictly Rhythm records in 1991 called Get Your Thang Together under the alias EMENAR 1. Romain then went on to release his work on many other labels in the US and Europe. In 2000 Romain started a label with superstar dj & producer Jon Cutler called Metro Trax where he released his world wide smash hit Phillys Groove which got major air play on UKs Radio1 by Danny Rampling and was produced by Danny Krivit and himself. Romain then went on to release such hits on metro trax as Respect The Music feat. E-Man, Body Movin feat. Phillip Alexander & To The Beat Yall feat. Eric Niese from M.T.Vs Real World Then in 2003 Romain went on a solo venture and started another label called Nu Faze records. This is where he started developing artists like Daniel Wright "Take Me 4 A Ride" and Lorenzo Tyler "Its Real". He then met artist Darryl D Bonneau and that collaboration churned out another smash underground hit called "Its the Spirit". That same year Romain was invited twice by dj Danny Rampling to play with him at The Cross in London. Rampling liked Romains style of DJing and heard him play a remix of "Love Is The Message" (M.F.S.B) by Romain, and liked it so much that he used it and Phillys Groove on his last C.D mix for Defected called "Break For Love". In 2006 you will be hearing much more of dj Romain, his Its the Spirit will be on the Soul Heaven compilation mixed by Louie Vega. You can catch Romain working under new management with Aimee Newman, launching his second label out of the UK called Speak Easy Records with a first release called "So Bright", on tour in Brazil, Europe & Japan as well as releasing much more slamming hits for 2006 and beyond.
