AstraZeneca did $4 billion of business in China last year which was a 25% year on year growth from the year before. This makes China AstraZeneca’s number two global market and it’s not going to be long before it overtakes the USA as their most valuable. So why is a British pharmaceutical company like AstraZeneca doing so well in China? Well it’s because of the Chinese government’s commitment to radically improving the healthcare provision to the Chinese people and their openess to creating opportunities and partnerships for British healthcare and life sciences providers. My name is David James and in this episode of UK Export Advice I talk to Shaun Grady Vice President of Business Development Operations for AstraZeneca. Shaun had just spoken to the Department for International Trade’s life sciences road show in Cambridge and I managed to grab a few minutes with him afterwards. This episode of UK Export Advice is part of our China Life Sciences series which are released on Thursdays. Episodes about digital trade and export services will continue to be released on Tuesdays.
