Three things the Best Locksmith in the Bay Area wants you to know about protecting yourself and your home.

What is the first line of defense in protecting our homes? I would say it’s the lock on our door. We all watch the news and many of us pay attention so we know exactly what type of crime is taking place in our immediate neighborhood. It can be scary to be so informed about crime happening so close to home.

So in this interview with Ben Pearson owner of Green Keys Locksmith, I asked him to share some of his best tips for locking up our homes. One of his pieces of advice will take you only 5 minutes to go check on your own front door and could stop forcible entry.

Ben should know…. He has been a locksmith for 10 years. He is the number one rated locksmith in the Bay Area in online reviews. As you know, I don’t put a ton of stock in online reviews, however, over 300 5-star reviews from clients is pretty hard to ignore.

Like so many of our featured experts on Union City Advice Givers, Ben Pearson has worked in many fields. He worked at Dale Hardware, Outback Steakhouse, East Bay Motor Sports, he was a welder, a machinist and even drove the Zamboni at an Ice Skating Rink in Fremont.

One of his past careers was a very specific niche. Ben specialized in turning regular pianos into player pianos. You know, the kind of piano that can play itself.

Ben is passionate about hockey and is a part of Fremont’s Adult Hockey League with plays at Sharks Ice. Green Keys has a team in the Fremont Men’s Recreational League.

Each of these jobs, roles, and skill sets helps him run his so successfully today. He is a skilled craftsmen, and a specialist in his field.

In my own personal experience working with Ben, I found him to be equipped to do the job. He comes prepared with everything he needs in one of his mobile service vans. He is a complete pro.

To contrast I recently needed the locks changed on one of my house listings for sale in Oakland. Since Ben was booked and couldn’t travel that far on one hour notice I called the first number that showed up in google. The guy that came out, came in a car, with no visible tools, no ID or business card. Right away he started trying to tell why it was going to cost double what he’d send on the phone. On top of that the guy had very noticeable body odor. Eww!

The complete opposite of that guy, Ben is very patient in explaining options and making sure his customers are satisfied with his service. I highly recommend checking out what Ben has to say about the scammers in his industry and how you can protect yourself.

When I asked him what is most important to his success he said,

“Don’t Let greed drive your business or your decisions. Don’t make money the number one thing.”

He shared a few stories of times he has helped someone in serious need. When we call a locksmith, it’s often when we are in a crisis. Time is of the essence. Someone was fired, robbed, locked out of their home at night. We NEED to know that we can call on a trusted professional. Call GreenKeys.
