Every Friday, in +/- five minutes,, I plan to share with you, the listener, my view on a specific leadership or business topic to improve your effectiveness in leading your team or grow your business acumen. In this episode, I want to share with you my thoughts towards the importance of having a coach for your leaders and organizations. In recent weeks, I’ve been asked about my coaching services by several people and I thought that I’d devote this 5 minute Friday to what you should expect from the service that I, or any coach should provide. Here are some of the points I share in this podcast - * In a real way, a business coach is similar to a sports coach in that your coach's role is to help you focus, plan, prepare, execute, and regroup so that you get the results you're committed to in your business.

* Too many business owners build their businesses in isolation, lacking the outside perspective and feedback from an experience mentor.

* I always encourage people to pick a coach who has deep experience set and knowledge-base to draw upon.

* Pick a coach who can articulate and explain things to you in simple, step-by-step language so that you can integrate what they share and put it to immediate and effective use.

* Meet frequently with your business coach--but not too often. * Get your business coach weekly updates on your progress. * Share your numbers-candidly. * Don't just focus on one-off challenges - look for systematic, global solutions. * Give permission to your business coach to hold you accountable. * Don't rationalize or explain away reality, because even if you "win" the discussion, reality will still win the war. * You don't need to defend or make excuses with your coach. * Let down your ego and accept the help and insights of your coach. * Get rid of your excuses. You don't have to do it perfectly, but you do have to take action. If you have questions, or want to talk more about my coaching, please contact me at - dan@vetrepreneurlife.com
