Episode 38 – Join the compost revolution with the Bokashi Evolution!

This week on the We Grow Ours show, Nick and Don have Morgan Coffinger with “Bokashi Evolution” Morgan is in love with soil, and her passion for composting shows!
“? My name is Morgan Coffinger, I'm an Arizona girl and I am in love with soil.

I graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science with an emphasis in International Affairs. A few years ago, I felt like so many people in the world do today. Feeling helpless and hopeless as I watched chemicals and pollutants toxify our soil, water, food; big corporations carving out more and more power over nations; and feeling forced to “buy” into this modernized world that disregards our planet completely. During the last year of my Political Science degree, Dr. Carol Thompson, Northern Arizona University professor, made us look for success stories.

?It was that year that I realized the people who were making the biggest difference were the small scale sustainable farmers.

Since I have worked on organic farms on Maui, Hawaii, returned to my desert home in Arizona to launch Bokashi Evolution. At 26, I started my own business handcrafting Bokashi and manufacturing DIY Kitchen Compost Kits while never forgetting those who grow food are true rEvolutionaries.

It is my passion to EMPOWER others with solutions to radically reduce our landfills, heal our soils, and boost our local food production.

Bokashi Evolution conducts educational workshops to the public, works with local schools, community gardens, and businesses regarding waste recycling.

Since 2012, we have diverted over 30,000 pounds of food waste from US landfills and we just got started.”
