AFTERBUZZ TV – Whale Wars edition, is a weekly “after show” for fans of Animal Planets’s Whale Wars. In this show, host Phil Svitek breaks down the 5th season episode in which after disabling the Y?shin Maru No. 2, the Steve Irwin begins searching for the Nisshin Maru. As they head south, however, they encounter the Y?shin Maru No. 3. At the same time, Paul Watson realizes that the Steve Irwin only has enough fuel left to return to port. Before departing, he orders the small boats to engage the Y?shin Maru No. 3 with prop foulers. The plan fails when the Japanese fish all of them out of the water before they could entangle the propeller. Meanwhile, the Bob Barker heads for the only patch of calm sea in Antarctica, where they find the Nisshin Maru. Both the Y?shin Maru No. 2 and No. 3 also arrive as night falls. Both ships, each towing a prop fouling rope, box the Bob Barker in to slow it down as the Nisshin Maru escapes the Bob Barker’ radar range. The Bob Barker continues to follow the whaling fleet as it leaves for Japan. This year the Japanese kill over 260 whales. Watson also announces that the Sea Shepherds plan to purchase another vessel for next year’s campaign. There to help Phil is co-host Ben Bottomley. It’s Whale Wars’s “Target Acquired” podcast!
