EPISODE 152: THE MORTUARY INTERVIEW

To finish off our Halloween 2020 celebration, horror author T. Fox Dunham interviewed writer and director Ryan Spindell, the mad genius who wrote and directed Shudder’s new horror film, The Mortuary Collection. This anthology movie tells the story of karmic punishment of evil and the nature of the storyteller. The story harks back to the days when horror had a bit of camp but was ultimately fun. After attending film school in Florida, Ryan relocated to California where he established Trapdoor Pictures to produce the ‘fun genre’. He draws his influences from 80’s horror film and authors such as Ray Bradbury, Stephen King and Kurt Vonnegut. He chats with Fox about how horror films have evolved and what makes good horror. Horror is coming home! He also chats about the process of filming The Mortuary Collection and his collaborations with Evil Dead director, Sam Raimi.

David Walton narrates a true ghost story that was written and researched by T. Fox Dunham. The Little Girl that Still Plays at Rockford House tells the story of a cursed family that bought land in Lancaster, Pennsylvania after the American Revolution to build a home. Ghosts still roam the house today. And T. Fox Dunham and Phil Thomas talk about their Halloween run of episodes, their favorite Halloween candy and what movies they’re going to enjoy this Halloweekend. The Mortuary Collection is number one on their list. Thanks for the exploding . . . organ, Ryan! Happy Halloween and a Happy Samhain to all.
