James Wong is a Hapa with a British mother and Hong Kong-born father. James grew up in the UK and ventured to Taiwan to teach English six years ago. James is still there and is now a teacher, model, actor, and content creator on Youtube based in Taiwan. James' content on Youtube focuses on Chinese learning, his experiences in Taiwan and also how being deaf affects his life.
In our conversation, we talked about his background, his childhood growing up Hapa and being half-deaf in a white environment, his content-creating journey, his language learning journey as an adult, the lessons he learned from being in Taiwan and through learning Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese.
