On Christmas Day, singer-songwriter of The Pogues Shane MacGowan turned 60 years old. Earlier this month, Shane celebrated this momentous occasion with his closest friends in a sold-out concert at the National Concert Hall in Dublin with President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins in attendance. This week on Windy City Irish Radio Tim and Mike pay tribute to the man that legendary Clash lead man and Pogues short-timer Joe Strummer called one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century with clips from the big birthday celebration with @Sharon Shane with Shane himself, U2 frontman Bono with Pirate of the Caribbean Johnny Depp․ and a holiday classic from Glen Hansardand Lisa O'Neill Music. Tune in for a live duet with Christy Moore and Shane, a haunting due with Sinéad O'Connor with Shane, a nice Pogues cover from Socks in the Frying Pan and plenty from Shane and the Pogues themselves. As the name of the album suggests, it is Poguerty in Motion. Join us each and every Wednesday from 8PM to 9PM on WSBC 1240AM and catch our January 24 podcast at www.windycityirishradio.com.
