We continue our lead up to the FEI World Equestrian Games, which will be held in Tryon NC from Sept 11 to the 23rd, by profiling another rider who is in contention to represent their country. Canadian show jumper Erynn Ballard from Tottenham, Ontario could be making her championship debut when the team is announced on September 1st. Erynn is no stranger to international success having come up through the June and Young Rider ranks and collecting a gold, silver and bronze medal ay the North American Junior & Young Rider Championships from 1996 to 2000. During that period she also won the prestigious Maclay Medal Final and established herself as a hunter jumper rider as well as a show jumping. She made her Nations Cup team debut in 2006 at Spruce Meadows when Canada won the event for the first time. Since then she has produced a strong stable of international horses and currently has 12 at FEI level. She recently broke into the top 100 of the FEI Rankings and her new partnership with the 10 year Irish gelding Darkos Promise that she first started competing just three months ago would be her chosen ride at the Games. Erynn has her own stable of horses she produces at the family farm of her parents Sandi and David as well as riding for dealer Ilan Ferder so she is on the road year round and Chris Stafford caught up with her as she was heading to a show this weekend.
