On this month’s episode Abby Ehler chats to Sam Davies, former skipper of Team SCA/ Volvo Ocean Race sailor who is vying for the 2020 Vendee Globe Race, Elodie Mettraux, also former Team SCA/Volvo Ocean Race sailor and recent Tour Voile competitor, and Josie Glidden, recently crowned Moth European Women’s Champion. They discuss the events that these sailors have been involved in, including Sam’s recent win in the IMOCA class of the Drheam Cup as well as the pathways into offshore shorthanded sailing, highlighting the rising female stars. They also chat about the Tour Voile and Moth sailing; the classes of boat and skill-sets involved in these varying disciplines of sailing. And later on in the show they share the proposed double handed, offshore class that is currently under review as an Olympic category, which they feel could really help to bridge the gap from Olympic dinghy sailing to the keelboat and offshore leagues.
