Trigger warning: This episode talks directly about elements surrounding sexual assault, rape and suicide. Be gentle with yourself. If you're not feeling in a whole-self place, this episode (Part 1) or next week's Part 2 might not be for you right now. If any of this is triggering for you, please reach out for support and resources to help you work through this.

This episode also contains mild spoilers for the Netflix show 13 Reasons Why.

In this week's episode (Part 1), Yvette and Jess talk about the themes and issues brought up in the Netflix television show 13 Reasons Why. This includes the conversations worth having that show the realities that can exist around the topics of rape, bullying and suicide.

13 Reasons Why is making people uncomfortable for a reason - why?

The two talk about the theme of self-preservation in dealing with rape and suicide, how we expect the response of those involved to be based on how we think we would respond if we were in that situation, victim blaming (ugh), and how mental health history is used as a negative against you.

Part 2 follows the conversation next week!
