Listen to the http://womentowomen.com podcast today and learn how to boost your libido and increase your sex drive to enjoy a wonderful sex life.

Hi, my name is Sherry, and I’m a nurse educator at Women to Women’s Personal Program. Low sex drive or low libido is a problem for women of all ages. Women find it difficult to discuss these issues and often feel there is nothing they can do. I talk with women every day and know just how common this issue is for many women.

Hormonal imbalance is often one major cause of low libido, but there are others, too. Some women have performance anxiety, too much stress, or something else going on. But the bottom line is that they get very little support from the medical world.

I talk with women regularly who are relieved when the conversation gets to libido and I tell them they are not alone. There are things you can do today to begin to recapture the energy you had in the past. If possible, start by talking to your partner. Simply letting them know you are having difficulty can be liberating and can make them less likely to assume it is their fault.

If there are physical issues such as pain or vaginal dryness, consult your medical provider. Educate yourself on the range of options available. Drinking more water, healthy intake of Omega-3 oils, and localized support such as Vitamin E vaginal suppositories and natural lubricants, are all options to consider.

If these options don’t help, consider asking your healthcare provider for a prescription vaginal estrogen. Reducing stress is another way to help improve your sex drive. Stress plays a big role in our desire for intimacy. The body has a fight-or-flight response to stress. If your body is concerned with life preservation, then having sex is likely a low priority.

Deep breathing, yoga, or meditation, are all options which can help. Just being able to talk about the issue and knowing you are not alone can also be really helpful. Remember that desire is only partly due to hormones. Our mindset also has a lot to do with it. If we view sex as a painful chore, we are not very likely to feel excited by it.

We have some wonderful articles to read on our website, www.womentowomen.com, all about sexuality and libido, which can help you determine options that might work best for you. Losing your sex drive is not inevitable. I hope you will take the steps you need to recover this vital, loving part of your life.

I wish you the best of health.
