In this Skill Sesh Episode, we sit down with Emotional Intelligence and Communication Specialist, and Founder of Catalyst 4 Change, Brittney-Nichole Connor Savarda. Effective communication is pivotal in building and maintaining strong relationships, both personally and professionally, and also in ensuring your personal brand and messaging is being relayed accuratlely to your audience. While the content of this episode is largely focused on communication in the workplace, we want to encourage our listeners to use these skills to improve communication with others in their personal lives and also in conversations about important social topics, such as the current conversation surrounding race, injustice and inequality in America. We discuss the basics of good communication and tools such as:

  • Communicating your message in different ways depending on who you are talking to
  • How self awareness and emotional intelligence effects communication by both the speaker and listener
  • Why most communication comes from emotion rather than logic
  • Why compassion is extremely important in effective communication
  • How you may not always understand other's experiences but you can understand how their experiences guide their perception of information
