LeRoy Bell kicked things off with "We've Got Tonight" by Bob Seger. Simon Cowell said it was good, but lacked originality.
Rachel Crow did the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction." Simon said he can see her winning the show.
Chris Rene put some funk into Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry." Paula Abdul liked the originality.
Stacy Francis performed Meatloaf's "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." L.A. Reid said he's proud of her.
Melanie Amaro did "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M. Reid said the song didn't fit rock night. Simon argued that R.E.M. is a rock band.
Josh Krajcik did "The Pretender" by the Foo Fighters. Nicole Sherzinger said he's ready for a recording contract.
Lakoda Rayne performed The Outfield's "Your Love." Simon said it was a total mess.
Astro rapped to a Puff Daddy's "I'll Be Missing You," which samples the Police. Nicole said it was a smart choice.
Drew did "With or Without You" by U2. Simon stood and applauded at the finish.
Marcus Canty performed "Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin. Simon didn't think that the song suited him.
