Hello and welcome to the CLN podcast. Episode 12 is here with a very special guest Peter Donegan of The Sod Show / Donegan Landscaping. Today’s show is brought to you from the National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, Co. Dublin and I couldn’t think of a more perfect location to record with Peter. I know you are all going to love this episode as much as I did recording it.

It’s time for you to put the kettle on, grab your knitting or a biscuit and make yourself comfortable. Today’s show is a fun filled 40 minutes, so sit back listen and enjoy this wonderful interview. I bet by the end you are already planning on getting outside with a new found love of everything that grows. Come on press play and come on a journey through the mind of Peter Donegan.

Normally in the show notes, I condense the interview taking place in the podcast. Trust me that this episode is one that you need to listen to. Peter’s love for gardening, horticulture and all things that grow is the most prominent thing about this interview. Below you will see three of the plants that I asked Peter to choose and when you listen you will see just how hard that was for him to answer. (He was asked to pick just one!)

laburnum tree + laburnocytisus adamii

Hamamelis Mollis

Corkscrew Hazel

Throughout this entire conversation, Peter brings us on his journey from starting at the age of 5 and growing plants under his bed, studying horticulture at 17, starting Donegan landscaping at 24, winning his first award at 30 for the design and build of an 18th century 55 acre estate before starting The Sod Show in 2011 and taking home the award for best Irish podcast at the blog awards in 2012 and 2013.

During our conversation Peter also recalls his favourite interviews and places he has visited while recording. He also mentions a few hidden Irish gems to visit and we chat about everything from business, hobbies, favourite plants and what’s in the future for The Sod Show.

Peter has just launched a Pateron account and you can find out more about that over here. It would be fantastic to show your support and to keep shows of such a high quality as Peter’s on the air. So pop on over and tell him I sent you!

If you want to catch up with Peter, you can find him on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and of course on his website Doneganlandscaping.com and the podcast The Sod Show.

If you have any questions for Peter or about today’s show, just drop a comment below and I’ll get back to you ASAP. Of course, you can listen to more of Peter’s work on The Sod Show Podcast on Itunes, Stitcher, Player FM and TuneIn Radio.

On today’s show, I also have an MKAL update, the skeins have started making their long journey around the world. For those of you asking about skeins, you can pop over to the Ellie and Ada Etsy shop and use the contact button to drop Laura a line and she will do her best to help you.

The music for the podcast has been provided by Liz Seaver and you can find more from here on lizseaver.com.

Thanks so much for listening!
