Escaping the Asylum Prelude: This revolution will not be televised (for free)
Manage episode 399922820 series 3549758
On the 26th March 2001 the wrestling world stood in awe. Vince had done it! He had bought his competition.
With the death of the major territories over the previous 15 years there was no where to go for any wrestlers who were out of favour with the WWF. Several companies tried to fill the gap.
In this episode we look at the formation of one that is still going today.
TNA Wrestling.
This is the prelude to a series where two comedians rate and review all the weekly PPVs released by NWA:TNA. This prelude sees some of the ups and downs that nearly saw TNA from not becoming a thing. From talents renaging on deals, to problems getting on PPV to the search for a score of financing. Also the first appearance of someone who will become a bit more prominant in future episodes, Dixie Carter. It's all here.
