Nathan sits down with Tre Borden of Tre Borden and Company for the 21st episode of the Finding Sacramento podcast. They chat about why growing up in Sacrament Tre never thought he would stay in Sacramento, why that has changed, why Sacramento is a community prime for entrepreneurs, why Sacramento will be cool when it finally knows itself and is ok with being Sacramento, why Sacramento needs to give up its scarcity mindset, why the answer to gentrification is to allow neighborhoods to solve their own problems versus trying to solve it for them, and what Sacramento 3.0 hopefully looks like.

Finding Sacramento is a podcast about Sacramento entrepreneurs, musicians, artists, and chefs and how they found their ‘roots’ in the City of Trees.

Tre Borden is an independent producer and creative consultant and the principal of Tre Borden and Co. His team produces events, public art projects, community-based programming and space activations. You will most often find him working with artists, developers, government agencies and community stakeholders to create unique and dynamic opportunities for engagement with the public. Tre holds a B.A. in East Asian Studies (China) from Yale University and an M.B.A. from UC Davis Graduate School of Management

Tre’s more notable projects include curating the Warehouse Artists Lofts, installing the pop up gallery Exhibit S, the public space activation PORTAL, implementing the Caltrans pilot program Bright Underbelly, programming for the young professional summit EMERGE, and producing the young professional podcast Comstock's Action Items. He recently began a citizen engagement project with the Mack Road Partnership called ReIMAGINE Mack Road helping to increase connectedness, visibility and economic opportunity for the neighborhood.

Tre was selected as the Sacramento Metro Chamber’s Young Professional of the Year for 2016 and was named one of the Sacramento Business Journal’s 40 under 40 in October 2016. Tre is also currently a Changemaker Fellow with TEDx Sacramento and a 2016 Next City Vanguard Fellow. He also serves on the board of the Sacramento LGBT Center and is a recipient of the Buck Foundation Scholarship.

Tre Borden is driven by the momentum of the Sacramento region and the many opportunities to experiment and collaborate with brilliant changemakers. His efforts have not gone unnoticed as he has been receiving both local and national recognition for his projects. He is looking forward to continuing his work as a bridge between communities, creatives and civic life.
