It’s the Dirt Shed Show and this week Martyn Ashton and Blake Samson are sitting down to discuss the burning issue in mountain biking, the rider strike which affected the Men’s Slopestyle Final at Crankworx Rotorua. The male riders chose not to partake in the competition after travelling to the venue, issuing a list of demands to the organisers who were only able to meet 2 out of the 3 conditions for which the riders would drop in. The sticking point, is over appearance fees, guaranteeing pay for riders who turn up to ride in the competition. We’re reflecting on what this could mean for the rest of mountain biking, and if danger pay for all is feasible with the industry in it’s current condition.
