Brookfield Renewable (NYSE: BEP), a leading provider of solar energy, and Microsoft, have signed a global renewable energy framework agreement. This new deal will help Microsoft achieve its goal of using 100% zero-carbon energy by 2030.

The agreement not only focuses on wind and solar energy but also explores new carbon-free energy technologies, and underscores their joint commitment to advancing renewable energy.

Under the agreement, Brookfield will deliver over 10.5 gigawatts of new renewable energy capacity in the U.S. and Europe between 2026 and 2030, with potential expansion into Asia-Pacific, India, and Latin America. This collaboration will enable Microsoft to access renewable energy to power its growing cloud services while aiding in the decarbonization of the energy grid.

Adrian Anderson, Brookfield’s General Manager of Renewables stated: “Microsoft wants to use our influence and purchasing power to create lasting positive impact for all electricity consumers.”

Brookfield Renewable operates one of the world’s largest publicly traded platforms for renewable power and sustainable solutions, with an operating capacity that totals almost 33,000 megawatts.
