In 1942, almost 80 years ago, Dr. Charles Drew resigned from his role as Director of the first American Red Cross Blood Bank. As an African American, he knew that prejudice could kill when the Army and Navy wouldn't stop segregating blood donations. His medical expertise saved lives and changed the landscape of blood banking, and it's all in the podcast!
