In this pickleball podcast episode the pickleball CHIX tour the hottest pickleball club in LA, the Santa Monica Pickleball Center with with LA Tennis Pros Jon Neeter and Julio Rivera. The duo invested over $400,000 in America's fastest growing sport. Their Open House in the Spring of 2023 was a big hit with more than 400 people attending.
The new facility provides four new lighted outdoor pickleball courts and 2,000 square feet of retail space which offers the largest inventory of pickleball equipment in all of Los Angeles.
Because Pickleball is the fastest growing sport, celebrity participation is also on the rise. Enthusiasts include Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Ferrell, Stephen Colbert, Kelly Roland to name a few. Jamie Foxx produces his own line of pickleball paddles that is now sold at The Santa Monica Pickleball Center.
The Santa Monica Tennis Center has also had dozens of celebrity visitors including Britney Spears, Matt Damon, Owen Wilson, Michael Keaton, Dustin Hoffman, Christian Bale, and Blake Griffin and the owners have given private lessons to celebrities like Kate Hudson, Hilary Swank, Lance Armstrong, and several others.

Major League Pickleball Update - Orlando Squeeze
Julio coached the Orlando Squeeze for Season 1 in Major League Pickleball. Julio congratulates Chicago Slice, the winners of the Super final. Although Bay Area Breakers went undefeated up into the playoffs, they lost to a good team to a really good accomplish team. The Chicago Slice is very, very accomplished. They know how to play singles. And they've all played on team. They've all played on teams, they've all played high level Division One, tennis, so they understand the competition aspect and the team aspect, which is really, really important when it comes to playing MLP.
Julio says, "I had a very good experienced team. We made it out of our pool play in in at Mesa in January. And we felt like we had a really good team in terms of doubles, we did well with our both our gender. And then the second time that we came out, we did well with gender and then didn't do as well as mixed. So we didn't come out of pool play. But we also felt like we were still a good enough team to not go out and try to make crazy changes and, and have the unknown. So we you know, we held out to our team, and everyone knew what they had to do. And we lost in three dream breakers.
It was heartbreaking. We went deep, deep, deep, deep in every game. And you know, just here or there, we just fell flat. And we just couldn't come over the hump. And that's how it is in Major League pickleball. There's no room for error. Yeah, it's rally scoring. Every point counts. And, you know, it gets kind of it gets it gets a chance. I think it's a great format for pickleball. And I hope that it continues to stay that way."

New Teams were drafted on July 12th. Major League Pickleball Premier and Challenger leagues switched for Season 2.
