Eddie / Ed. Morton

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is? He’s vocalist, composer and vaudevillian Eddie Morton, sometimes credited as Ed. Morton. After working for the Philadelphia Police Department for about 7 years, he went into show business, earning himself the nickname “The Singing Policeman.” You’ll hear three of his many recordings in the fourth segment of this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records. His is one of five birthday saluted in this week’s “All Birthday” edition of the show. The others are George Reneau, Mart Britt and Bert Shefter, all first timers, and Harry Rosenthal. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era.

THANKS FOR LISTENING! ENJOY THE SHOW!
