Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.
Vecna month continues! This week I am doing a spotlight on one of my favourite series of adventure scenarios. These 3 somewhat loosely connected adventures form an epic character arc that chronicles the rise, fall, and re-rise of Vecna. This is the first time in D&D history that Vecna was fleshed out as more than just a hand and an eye. This is how an adventure path should look in my opinion. These scenarios can be played/run stand-alone or as a 3 part series, but each adventure requires different sets of adventurers as the focus is on the titular villains arc over several years. I wanted to hone in on these classics before digging into the new 5e Vecna adventure path that is partially inspired by and pays homage to. Tune in to hear a bit of a history lesson on where Vecna came from before delving into the 5e adventure (and possibly getting an undue negative impression of him!)
