She sees herself as a bridge connecting psychology and the community to support mental wellness. To that end, she is the founder of Dr. Akilah Says a lifestyle and wellness blog and co-founder of the SBW Wellness Collaborative which provides mental health education and outreach. Affectionately known as sunshine, Dr. Akilah enjoys rooftops, hiking, spending time with family and friends, traveling but, most of all indulging her sweet tooth.
