This is the first episode of Roll of the Valkyries or RotV. In this episode we set up the game for Season 1: Apocalypse World 2nd Edition. This episode focuses on 
world building, character creation, bonds, and group dynamics.

Quick Game Explanation:
Apocalypse World was originally released in 2010 by Vincent Baker. Last week, Vincent and Maguey Baker released the second edition of the game which we are using.
AW2 as I’m calling it is a 2d6 system. That means the only dice you roll are two, d6 (or standard six-sided) dice. In this system, that means adding the two together and your standard “Powered by the Apocalypse” power breakdown. What that means is the sum of your outcomes plus your skills gives you one of three sets of options.
- 10+ unparalleled success.
- 7-9 You succeed, with some drawback.
- <8 You fail. Major drawback.
Apocalypse World is made to replicate a Mad Max meets Fallout kind of feel. But that depends on how the group creates the world.
Our Final World Building Results:
- Loci: Midwest (Iowa–> PA). Dry flat landscape.
- Asteroids hit Earth causing mass destruction (see point 5)
- Packs of nut-eating squirrels attack, are zombies.
- Water is scarce and contaminated.
- Asteroids are radioactive and cause the maelstrom network in the world.
- Ghoul-like mutants are hunting humans.

Show Notes:
5 min mark: We talk about the house rule I’m using out of Dungeon World – Bonds.
** Bonds info **
1. A Secret – told only to the GM
2. A connection to the world – or motivation
3. A connection to another player.
Playing to your Bonds nets you more experience.
18 min mark: 2d6 systems. Degrees of Success.
20 min mark: world building. Rachel makes as many Fallout references as she can – and one Avatar one.
24 min. Rachel says Pennsylvania is flat… except for those mountains.
26 min. Rachel makes a play on STIs as an excuse to talk about her favorite models of cars. I wonder how long that joke took her to think of.
29 min. Dawn makes NUT-eating squirrells. Well, not her personal problem I guess… Alyssa doesn’t know what just happened for two minutes.
34 min. We take a detour to discuss Rachel’s favorite car, again. And Dawn shares pictures of squirrels.
Rachel says sidewalks attack people in Cleveland… I missed that one until this final edit.
