I recently attended an event called "Strength in Diversity" that my friend, Ebenezer Samuel hosted on behalf of Men's Health Magazine.

I was skeptical at first because I rarely see diversity efforts that I believe make companies or services better. Typically what I see is virtue signaling, and getting minority faces into content to try an attract business from more people who look like them.

When it comes to social causes I believe the most virtuous social cause is doing world class work. It doesn't matter what the people who do that work look like, as long as the effort is always on doing the best work.

What was refreshing about the Strength in Diversity initiative is that there are no handouts. It's a mentorship approach to lifting people who come from marginalized communities. And that I can get behind.

Today I ask Ebenezer the hard questions in regards to the relevance, merit, and future of diversity efforts in the work place.
